ITES INTERNATIONAL's catalogue consists of clothing, and accessories by Sequoia and other international designers. Our hand- crochet pieces are made by Minka Designs in Jamaica, Painted Butterfly and Jaunita in Atlanta.
Sequoia revels in the use of authentic African textiles such as Mudcloth and Kuba cloth. Some of these fabrics are imported from regions of Africa that can no longer be accessed due to civil unrest, thus increasing the rarity and uniqueness of certain pieces.
Mudcloth's origin is believed to lie in the Beledougou region of central Mali. Hand woven and hand-dyed mudcloth uses a centuries old process using numerous applications of various plant juices/teas and mud to dye hand woven cotton cloth panels.
Kuba cloth, the magnificent embroidered and appliqued grass fabric of the Kuba people, is the best-known example of the ancient African tradition of raffia cloth weaving.
Sequoia combines these textiles with cottons, silks, wool, leather, African prints and crochet to create wearable art for everyday wear. ITES also offers crochet accessories, hats, scarfs and collectables.
Our line of hand carved leather earrings, arm bands and belt buckles is created in Atlanta by Earthone Design.
